The EMBA programme in Climate Change Economics provides an understanding of climate change issues, particularly the economics of climate change. The course equips students with the tools to assess the relative merits of various climate change policies that are increasingly being put forward by governments and other stakeholders.
Objectives
The EMBA programme in Climate Change Economics seeks to:
- Articulate key issues relating to climate change from an economic perspective.
- Explain how economics can offer public policies aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.
- Apply economic principles and instruments in designing appropriate climate change policies.
- Emphasise the role of the Kyoto Protocol and other subsequent Accords in dealing with climate change issues.
- Explain the role of energy prices in mitigating the effects of climate change.
Scope
The EMBA programme in Climate Change Economics cuts across various areas in Economics. Students will complete relevant courses in related areas in addition to project report in their areas of interest.
Entry Requirements
Candidates for the EMBA programme in Climate Change Economics shall have the following:
- Minimum of one year working experience in the industry.
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in any relevant discipline.
Admission is twice in a year: April and October.
Mode of Study
The mode of study for the EMBA programme in Climate Change Economics shall be by course work, organisational case studies, annual attendance of the School’s international conference, and case project report.
Duration
The duration for the Executive MBA programme in Climate Change Economics shall be four (4) semesters. This is a weekend programme comprising one (1) contact per month over a 5 month period for each semester.
